A life between places

About Wenjia

I’m Wenjia. I live in Greater Vancouver, between China, Korea, and Canada.

I grew up at a kitchen table where my mother spoke finance and my father spoke philosophy. I still live between those two languages. I studied both, then spent years in Seoul and Beijing with people moving fast between countries. A new country is not a chapter you close. Parents on one side of the ocean, a child growing up on the other.

I’ve spent more than a decade around money: a few years in Asia with founders and the public side of that world, then Canada, closer to households. I believe the most important things happen around a dinner table. Lately I’m more interested in knowing when to stop optimizing and start living. Money is like water. Guide it with care, and it nourishes a life. Leave it without purpose, and it makes noise.

I like old forms and new tools, when they serve a life I actually want.

I write, and I host a small table for money, family, and meaning. Tea belongs there too. A simple cup. I would rather set a good table for a few than try to fill a huge room.
